brandon and ashley engaged
brandon has been a great friend and roommate to me. taking these photos has been a much talked about and anticipated event. brandon and ashley are beach people so it was only natural that we set out for the newport beach pier for some sweet engagement photos – i could not be happier with the way they came out – what do you think?

its good to be back
its been a crazy couple of months and i have barely been shooting. i had to drag myself out yesterday but i was so happy to get out and take some shots off the pier in huntington as the sun set. it was a really tranquil and surreal sunset, freezing cold and drizzling but the weather makes for great clouds and light..
i have been working all weekend on the final website revisions so you can expect to see those going live soon!

october in newport
october in orange county is awesome in its own way – the weather turns cooler and all of the tourists leave and the beach becomes ours again. the sunsets are amazing – the beach becomes a quieter and more peaceful place to be. life had gotten away from me and i had not been out to the beach to shoot in a while. i made it back out on oct 1 and got some of the best shots yet…
on any given afternoon i will shoot a couple hundred images and maybe like 1 in 50 – i am pretty critical in general and really critical of my own stuff but it was a really great day. my favorite is the first image below, i had been shooting some surfers and turned to peak down the beach at a father and his kids, i snapped off a few and thought little of it until i was reviewing all of the images the next day – i love the shot for technical reasons; light, comp, dof, etc – but the girl is really what wins me over. she must have been about 8 years old but in this brief moment she is strikingly mature with a presence that i cant put into words…
